Annual Meeting of the AGD 2015 in Potsdam,
October 23-24

Topic: The pan-omics landscape of human diseases

Dear Members and Friends of the AGD,

“Pan-omics” is currently one of the most used catchphrases in research. It describes the combined consideration of data derived from different molecular levels using various high-throughput molecular technologies. However, there are many unsolved issues linked to these high-dimensional data, particularly when studying diseases like cancer. These include issues of quality, validation, sensitivity, in particular for the detection of somatic changes, and those of bioinformatics analyses. Despite these issues, pan-omics and pan-disease analyses, as exemplified by pan-cancer analyses, will provide completely novel insights into the molecular mechanisms shared by diseases or their unique features. We anticipate that pan-omics data will have a strong potential to generate more general, multipurpose treatment options and could revolutionize patient care in the future.

You are cordially invited to participate in the 2015 AGD meeting, held in Potsdam on October 23 and 24, 2015. The meeting will address the above issues in four sessions:

Session 1 — Genome analysis: from technology to quality control
Session 2 — Cancer genomics: from structural variation to tumor heterogeneity
Session 3 — Epigenomics: from chromatin code to single cells
Session 4 — Translational onco(epi)genomics: from research to therapy

From the presentations given at the meeting and from the discussions, we expect fruitful impulses for future developments, not only in research but also in our health care systems.

We are convinced that the meeting program is very attractive, and that the excellent speakers will manage to inspire you and your future work. The pleasant atmosphere of the “Seminaris SeeHotel Potsdam” and of its surroundings at the Templiner See is ideally suited for this high-profile scientific meeting.

We are looking forward to seeing you in Potsdam.

Sincerely yours,
