Annual Meeting of the AGD 2016 in Potsdam,
October 7-8

Topic: Genomic data-driven medicine

Dear Members and Friends of the AGD,

Clinical genomics has been steadily growing in importance for well over a decade, and is reaching a milestone with the introduction of whole genome sequencing and the work of initiatives such as the Global Alliance for Genomics and Health. Discoveries and diagnostics depend critically on data on many levels. Accurate and comprehensive databases of genomic variants and disease associations are indispensable for the analysis of clinical genomics data, and new, “digitalized” forms of data encompassing phenotypes and other clinical information are increasingly being used to support genomic variant analysis. Network analysis of clinical and molecular data, and in turn exchange of this data over international networks, are generating novel hypotheses and disease-gene discoveries that will revolutionize patient care in the near future. This meeting will provide a cross section of some of the major topics in data-driven genomic medicine and will address some of the challenges towards implementation of genomics in health care systems.

You are cordially invited to participate in the 2016 AGD meeting, held in Potsdam on October 7 and 8, 2016. The meeting will address the above issues in four sessions:

Session 1 — New discoveries by large sequencing studies
Session 2 — Clinical application of next generation genetics
Session 3 — Digital phenotyping of patients
Session 4 — Networks and big data for medicine

From the presentations given at the meeting and from the discussions, we expect fruitful impulses for future developments, not only in research but also in our health care systems.

We are convinced that the meeting program is very attractive, and that the excellent speakers will manage to inspire you and your future work. The pleasant atmosphere of the Seminaris Seeotel Potsdam and of its surroundings at the Templiner See is ideally suited for this high-profile scientific meeting.

We are looking forward to seeing you in Potsdam.

Sincerely yours,

Peter N. Robinson
